[Ref.: #66736] Isolation/enrichment procedure A bacterial strain, designated SDU1-6 was isolated from an upper soil sample collected on the Jinan campus of Shandong University, Shandong Province, PR China. The isolate was obtained from the soil which was spread over living Escherichia coli cells on WCX basal medium, which is a traditional technique for the enrichment of myxobacterial fruiting bodies. The strain was picked from the enrichment medium and transferred to VY/2 medium containing 0.5 % Bakers' yeast, 0.1 % CaCl2 2H2O, 0.5 mg ml-1cyanocobalamin and 1.5 % agar. The pH of the medium was adjusted to 7.2 before autoclaving. The strain was transferred from the colony edge several times for purification.
