Isolation/enrichment procedure |
mixed culture was maintained by transferring small quantities (1 ml) of culture to fresh axenic Synechococcus culture every 8-12 days and incubated at 26 C under a 12:12 h light:dark cycle at approximately 50 µE m^-2 s^-1. To isolate bacteria that were closely related to Synechococcus species PCC7002, after five transferring steps, the culture was spread onto marine agar 2216 (MA; Becton Dickinson) plates, and bacterial colonies were isolated using the serial dilution method |
